If you’ve got a mobile phone or tablet, then you’ve probably already heard of some of these. I’m sure we’ve all been told to get it out and play one of these games… but how often have we actually sat down and played one for more than a few minutes? Well, I’ve played some pretty addictive games on my mobile, but I’ve also seen my friends and colleagues tell me off for wasting too much time on the phone.
Here’s my pick of the best free mobile games of all time…
1. Scrabble
Scrabble isn’t actually free, but you do get 500 new words every day that you can use. Also, if you don’t fancy playing against another person, you can also play against a computer opponent, and there’s an online Scrabble leaderboard, so you can see how you’re doing.
2. Sudoku
Sudoku is probably the most common mobile game, and I used to play it in school. Just imagine doing Sudoku in the real world. It’s incredibly frustrating. On the plus side, when you’ve finished one, you get a full game free.
3. Fruit Ninja
Fruit Ninja is a free game that I actually have, and it’s great. You swipe left and right to cut the fruit from the tree. It’s probably the perfect mobile game for a mobile phone.
4. Minesweeper
Yes, there’s Minesweeper, too. It’s probably the most famous mobile game. You tap at the places where you want to avoid bombs.
5. Tetris
Tetris is, well, a Tetris. It’s a puzzle game where you need to line up a series of blocks into a perfect horizontal, vertical or diagonal line. It’s a simple game, but when you get into a rhythm, you’ll be able to concentrate really well.
6. Bejeweled Blitz
Bejeweled Blitz is a pretty fun game, and it’s simple to play. You click on coloured jewels that are similar to the ones already on the board. The aim is to move them to match three, or maybe to get your lines to connect across, and across. It’s great for a quick game.
Bonus: Sudoku Game
If you’re looking for a Sudoku game, but don’t fancy a whole game, then you can play a mini game here, which will usually have 10 puzzles for you to solve. You might get bored after a while, but it’s a good way to pass the time.
It’s probably safe to say that we’re all addicted to the free apps that are available on mobile devices. It’s an easy way to pass time, or just kill some time if you’re bored. I hope you’ve found some games that you can try out, if you haven’t already.
