Apple AirPods 3 Review

Apple AirPods 3 Review

Apple has just announced a new version of their popular wireless earbuds, the AirPods 3. This time around they have a few new tricks up their sleeve.

First, off they're Water and sweat resistant now allowing them to be used in most settings including working out. Also there is a slight improvement on battery life which is pretty nice considering how short the battery life was for the previous generation AirPods 2 but still not that impressive at 5 hours with this third generation. But if you have one of Apple's latest products, the AirPower, you'd be able to charge your AirPod case within 40 minutes so it makes up for it a bit.

The most interesting advancement with however is in regards to spatial audio. It is now possible to detect the location of your AirPods 3 and provide spatial audio based on your physical position in a room.

They've also added in a nice little touch with their charging case having a Magsafe style charger built in so there is basically no chance you could pull out the wire when its plugged in which is great news if you're clumsy like me and have broken many charger cords over the years.

The only real negative thing about these new AirPods 3 is that they sound the same as the previous 2 generation AirPods which don't really offer that impressive of sound quality, to begin with.

Fortunately, there is hope on the horizon since according to rumors, the Apple AirPod 3 will support Siri so it is possible that Apple might release a version of the AirPods with slightly improved audio quality in the near future.

The price remains fairly unchanged with the new AirPods 3 costing $179 in the U.S so it looks like they're keeping them $10 cheaper than their main competitor, Samsung's Galaxy Buds 2 giving them an advantage in terms of value. I can also expect these to be discounted fairly soon due to last year's AirPods 2 being available at around half price currently if you're on a budget.

In closing, these new AirPods 3 are pretty decent but I'm still waiting for that true wireless earbud that can live up to my high standards of sound quality and design. But if you're not as picky as me and just want a set of wireless earbuds for everyday use then they might be worth checking out.
